I'm looking for a good clean image of the surviving manuscript of Vincent of Beauvais's Spieghel Historiael that was written around 1330, the image is of the battle between Charlemagne and Roland. It's a battle scene with horses and bloody splitting helm.... Sorry I dont have a lot of details about ...

I use a combo of both a period liner and blue foam in some area, like the cheeks and the base of my skull. The period liner goes on the top bart of my head. BUT, I also cover the foam with linen and stitch it down, so you cant see that bright blue sticking out! :D

The key is to do it as they woould have done it!

I use herringbone wool, cut into long strips, hem the top side (only one side really has to be hemed since one edge will be under each sprial.) I dont cut on the baisis cause the wool streches enough just cut straight. and of course hooks at the top.

I actually recived an injury do to a lanyard once. My sword was hit with a glaive and it was hit by a great sword at he same time kinda making it spin out of my hands. It was falling to the ground when the other side started a charge and it got totally tangled in the fray and ended up yanking my arm...
