If you think the rhode's stuff is bad check out the armour from chalcis,this stuff was clearly made by a blind chimp that just hapened to have a bit of metal to bash.

High Randall i only said it "maybe" 20 years later,the gauntlets seem to be more early 15th cent in style and many of the armours attributes seemm to have at least an italian influence. curiously the hinges on the greaves of the effigy are on the inside which seems uncommon. Try again FOR CRESS10. The poleyn of this leg armour will bend 140degrees before the plates lock in the proper fashion,this is handy ,especialy when mounting a horse . a lot of english jousters are complaining af poleyns that only bend to 90 deg and so can't then mount. the effigy has been removed twice this century so the joke about looking around the back is not that far removed.

It is true that we expect perfection today,i once examined a rennen jousting salet that was engraved and fluted,but when viewed from the top the tail of the helm was at least 10 or more degrees of to one side .Also you will find such faults on famous helms as the coventry salet to name but one .Also...

I HAVE RECENTLY VISITED THE EFFIGY OF SIR JOHN CRESSY WHO DIED AROUND 1445.IT IS AN ALABASTER STONE CARVING,THE STONE COMING MAINLY FROM QUARRIES IN CHELLASTON AND TETBURY.OFTEN THESE EFIGIES WERE NOT PUT ON THE TOMB UNTIL MAYBE 20 YEARS LATER SO THE ARMOUR STYLE IS OFTEN CONTEMPORARY WITH THIS LATE...

patrick have you tried making the fauld hinges with the pivot pins removable at first ,when ready to assemble attatch the hinge halfs to the fauld and culet lames,which can then be built up on the leathers as separate breast and back plates. offer up b+back and insert the pivot pins.this makes assmb...
