I can make one out of Microcell foam and coat it in a high strength silicone rubber. I've made mass weapon heads the same way and they seem to work great with just the right amount of compression and hold up to lots of abuse. I'll pre-order one! I recommend that you add a piece (something like a 1/...

Great.. the last couple of years in the SCA have been the years of halfassed Romans, halfassed Tolkeinisms, halfassed barbarians, now it will be halfassed spartans this year, and halfassed wire weenies next year. *guh* I know what you mean, bro...but trust me...I will not be doing anything half-ass...

I hope to finally have my late 16th hard Kit completed by Pennsic...So long have I had a late-period persona and this will be the first time in armour befitting my period...I can't bloody wait! Si no demonstra fotos de su armor, vendre a su casa y robar sus armas. Cuando mi camara regrese de la com...

This almost makes me want to buy a 16th century armour. It'd be awesome to have been a rodelero during that period... You know you want to join the 16th Cen Mob. We have guns. Oh Indeed!!! To me, there is no garb or armour more stunning than that of the late 16th century...and as Alejandro so graci...

Flitties, The problem with it is that you see no problem. How can you guys bitch about vampires and faries in the SCA and then cheerfully champion comic book armour? Am I'm the only one seeing the disconnect there? Isn't there something about making a reasonable attempt to be historical in the SCA ...

Well, all of you have a good time at war. If it wasn't for the pending and happily anticipated arrival of our daughter I'd be there...only the third GW I've missed. If you find yourselves roaming site at night, stop by Clan Marshin Fayne's encampment (Corner of King's and Queen's Hwy) for friendly b...

I was speechless...my wife was scared I had a stroke from watching something so horribly put together. I wish I could completely negate vast swaths of history the way this show did...what a cool superpower that would be I was so dumbfounded my eyes dried up. After the show I drank some of my Chocola...

Generally when I put the plastic wrap layer I make sure that it is somewhat taut to the surface where the limb is resting...tape works great. That way you have even walls all of the way around. For hands I've used that plastic wrap that sticks when pressed down to form it around the hand...coating t...

I've done moulds of body parts for sculptures and I started experimenting with different casting methods and the one I got the best results from was covering the limb with a thin layer of vaseline (I know, I know) and then applying one layer of saran wrap (so hair won't be pulled out as it always ha...

Thank you all for the great comments...I'm quite honoured. Aaron - Thank you very much for the critique! Lot of things to try for next time....and I will try them! I made the Poleyns as well. Greave/Knee Combo
Greetings all, This is my very first foray into leather shaping, so any and all comments are very much welcome. I've done armour on an off for a long time (I learned my first chops under Alan Bauldree) but the nuances of shaping leather were very unfamiliar. I recently completed this set of Poleyn/G...

I second the review of Ironmonger. Eric is fantastic to deal with and he stays to schedule about 90% of the time...things do happen. His helms are built like tanks, as Rowan said. He built me a custom slat-back bascinet to fit around my sports goggles and his prices are very reasonable. I couldn't b...

I'm going to have to agree with Jon the Tall on the Finals...Although I will go out on a limb and say Viscount Uther will win should he reach the finals. Sentimental favourite for me is His Excellency Grimbaldus...have to stick with Household family, you know... No matter what, good luck to them all...

Uric, Those turned out quite nice...they give me some ideas. I have a pair of hardened leather greaves with stainless polyens and I can hide them well, but your idea is excellent. I also have a pair of the bionic knee guards from alpinestars and they work great as well, I just have to get used to th...
