Re: #1 Technical Error in SCA Sword & Shield?
Corby, that is really subjective. In principle I agree, however fighters who fight "goofy" footed will not only rotate the hips into the blow but commonly will shift the body weight forward onto the lead foot. Now this may or may not "lean the head over or past the lead foot". Wh...

Re: Shield construction question.
Marcus, I am not going to get into the niceties of making a shield that the others have already done but, I will say that you are going to have alot of fun fighting with that style shield. I also like that for a change I will get an opportunity to show you some cool stuff at Pennsic. I hope you have...

Hi-Tech Magnum's are the ticket if you want traction, support and near zero break in time. They shouldn't be too hard to cover up either.

I am not fond of the unpadded glaive, I was using a loaner at Gulf Wars from a Calontiri and it was big fun. It was "shaped/padded". Still big smashy fun.

Re: 7 1/2 foot Polearm vs 6 foot Great Sword
In my opinion as most have stated it is a crap shoot. It depends upon the skill of the users. I know that personally I would use the pole arm. That has more to do with my pre-SCA training in bayonet drill than anything else. I am also an indifferent greatswordsman at best. It is my least "favor...

Just what it says. Who does a "lower end" Burgonet? Under $400.00. Just to complete the timeline so I can wear a Riever or Landsknecht on the field occasionally.

I bought some fantastic spring steel gauntlets from Grettir not long ago. We all know the quality of the goods but I am going to talk about the quality of the man. Ursus, I love you pics! Have been a fan for a while now. I had hoped to see me in some of them but it just wasn't meant to be. You were on the wrong end of the line during the ravine battle. I will take you one piece at a time if I have to. I will go for the kill if it is available but if the arm is what is available, guess what, it degrades your ability to fight. As far as I am concerned the idea that it takes greater skill to defeat an opponent with all his parts is exactly right. If ...

I get it and will play along nicely but I still don't see how a sheathed weapon can be construed as a passive shield. Just my opinion and evidently not the one shared by most. I think if someone is being an asshat, we have a rule that allows us to remove them from the field. The one where it says no...
