Re: Armed to the teeth (SCA).
So the only thing I can find in the Society rules that comes close is this section: IV. THE USE OF WEAPONS AND SHIELDS A. Weapons shall be used in accordance with their design. For example, spears may only be used for thrusting, axes for striking along the edge of the blade, etc.. 1. Only weapons ap...

Re: Armed to the teeth (SCA).
Yeah, I get it and was just getting a little pissy about that kind of B.S. I know about the whole shield held vs passively strapped and agree with that, even though the douches who tried to be a Ninja Turtle should simply have had their authorizations taken in my opinion for breaking the "spiri...

Re: Armed to the teeth (SCA).
That is just plain goofy. Come on reasonable expectations. I understand the rule of no passive shields since they are indestructable. The idea of someone "gaming" the system with a turtle look, but come on be reasonable a back up weapon/sheathed weapon. LOOK at Nissan, I see all kinds of t...

Re: Armed to the teeth (SCA).
Sheathed swords are a problem as they can block leg shots. Back-up weapons tend to be smaller and less likely to interfere with shots especially if they are in the small of your back or on your shield side. If you get hit in your weapon, you should take it as a good hit, since gauging telling blows...

You know I only partially read the initial post. So I only posted those who I have fought from out of Kingdom. To add who I would like to fight, wow that is a pretty long list. due to reputation: Logan (once he is healed, I want his best) Icefalcon Valhalric Uther Jade really just about anyone on th...

Since we seem to be going off of Prowess as the defining factor: of the active/siemi-active Drachenwald Knights listed in OoP: Duke Prothal Wolfsbane Duke Sven Gunnarson Duke Alaric of Bangor Viscount Franz von Hohenklingen Sir Grimr Currently that is who I would say are the top 5 but that list can ...

[ I was thinking in terms of someone who adopted a persona solely for Crown to take advantage of an exception and then reverted to their normal fighting kit and garb once the Crown over, . How do you feel about the reverse of this? For example I fought in my viking kit at both of my crowns and stil...

Cisco, I hope you make it! I recommend that you post a new thread with clean pictures of your kit and shield (hard to see everything in the action shot). State the time and place and we'll either pre-approve, or recommend changes. Thorvaldr, We post them here, on Legio, and do a big mailing list pu...

Pennsic Regrets
This past year was my first Pennsic ever. I had a great time. At the end these were my basic comments: Week 1 is a Frat Party for geeks Week 2 is War which was fun with some Geeky Frat Party still left over. I was jetlagged and dealing with that insane humid heat for the first time. I missed out on ...

My dream Viking Jarl outfit would consist of undertunic, bagged pants with hidden knees, half sleeve chain shirt (titanium because it's a dream kit), forearm and shin guards (I _am_ a Jarl afterall), overtunic and helm with either ocular and chain drape or full faced helm similar to the Sutton Hoo ...

Due to major scheduling changes of war point scenarios at this year's Gulf Wars, the Deed has been scheduled for 0900-1100 hours (9-11 AM for you civilian folks) on Friday in the Fort! This is the best possible time we could get that is not in direct conlict with a WarPoint Battle. There will be po...

You are on. Glaives? First one to 5 telling blows? I thought we were just gonna punch each other with the gauntlets , but sure, if you wanna cheapen it with weapons, glaives works. We can wait until the Tuchux tourney at Pennsic for that. (assuming you come back alive from the Ukraine) regards Thor...

Review of Grettir the Slow's gauntlets
Ok, I actually got these right after Christmas but it took until this week to finally get a chance to get in a fighter practice. simply superb. there is no other way to put it. worth the price. Remember however that these are "high end" gauntlets as far as price goes that is. , communicati...
