Sir,
I know that he is not on your list however Duke Sven Gunnarsson of Drachenwald will be attending Pennsic and I should think that he could/would be of interest in this gathering.

Audax, When I blew my knee out 2 years ago I was wearing a maille shirt, heavy leather arms with metal cops, leather legs with metal cops, a light weight aketon and my helm. The maille weighed 26 pounds and the arms weighed @6-8 lbs. After surgery I decided I needed to lighten the load a bit until ...

When I wear my maille (which has been a while) Helmet: 8 lbs Aketon: 4 lbs Maille: 25 lbs arms: 8 lbs legs: 10 lbs shield: 8 lbs Total weight: 63 lbs body weight: 240 lbs so roughly 25% I currently wear the lammelar and different arms and a tunic: which drops the weight by about 14lbs so a total of ...

I was fighting with a shield constructed in the same manner for about 2 years and it is still in good shape. However I would say due to injuries, etc. you should only count that as 1 year of fighting. Really the only thing that goes is the rawhide edging after a while which is an easy fix. Thorvaldr

Had I been advised that this was the situation at an earlier time, things may have played out differently. When you told me you have arthritis in an earlier email, you didn't mention the type, so I assumed it to be either rheumatoid, or standard. Both of which are painful but manageable. Psoriatic ...

Praises for Black Swan Designs
Again, Gwen and her staff have done an outstanding job of customer service. I ordered two of the Hangeroc's and two underdresses for the ladies in my family. They came in a timely manner and the price and service was as always as advertised. Now we get to the best part...... One of the underdresses ...

Ok, No matter what event this would be held at it would take up a time slot. However it will certainly not take up the entire day nor do I believe that all the worthies who are invited to fight want to ONLY fight in this tourney. I fully expect them all to attend, that was why it was an invitational...

I have been thinking on this a great deal. Tourniments that require a consort be present is something that I am not culturally accustomed to. My wife is in the SCA and accompanies me to most events, so this wouldn't be an issue for me....what sticcks mostly in my mind is something else entirely. Wo...

I do know that the Oseberg Tapestry has oval shields on it (circa mid 800's Norway). it has been suggested that that is itself an artifact of the illustration (or needlework). I've heard the suggestion that saxons did use ovals but I don't recall any documentation. Of course as you go later you can...

All I can add so far is the personal let down by not being able to attend Pennsic this year. Re: An Opportunity to become part of a Legend!
Warriors of the Midrealm, I have not had the pleasure of living in your fair realm, but I did have the honour in years past of being appointed on the field of battle to your Queen's Guard - from the opposing army. For this reason your kingdom has always had a special place in my heart. Those of you...
