I need to either make or buy a crest for a pas d armes at the end of Feb. Are there web sites that could help me make one or a place I could comission one that could get to me in time. References would also be cool. It will be going on a late 14th century bascinet. The bascinet is german design, but...

35 is way too cold. Next time do it inside on the stove and turn the fan on to get rid of the fumes and make sure you have enough acid to cover the piece with room to spare. While I would most whole heartedly recommend Tim's buckles for 15th century or even 16th century, they really don't work for viking/norman/crusader. He did some previously based an DeTrumpington's funeral brass that would probably work, but I think that was a special order. ------------------ --Edri...

Parti-colored Cotehardie for Sell
This will fit someone with a chest of about 40-42", waist about 38". Of course someone smaller could fit into it also. It is blue and gold parti-colored, long sleeved, no collar and comes down to just a little below butt length. Material is 100% linen, machine stiched and serged edges. It was meant ...

This is more of an SCA think, but.... I am wanting a belt kit for christmas. I wanted to get some of the redish brown leather strips to make it with. Yes, use vinegar. Actually, next time you should remove the scale before shaping. In other words, cut out your pieces, remove the scale, then shape. You won't use as much vinegar, and it will be much easier to do. Now you are pretty much going to have to get a bucket the helmet can fit in, fill it w...

The way I do it is to use pieces of masking tape to tape the area where I want the brass. Once I get the width and shape to my liking, I peel the tape off and cut it into manageable pieces and put it on poster board. I then cut those pieces out and use them as patterns for cutting the brass out. Let...
