Transcription and translation of the rules and descriptions of foot tournaments at end of the 16th century: http://talhoffer.wordpress.com/2012/06/26/fullcontact-the-tournament-in-1596/ Really interesting information on how tournaments were conducted - Even more interesting than the methodology of "...

Re: BOTN Canadian team?
Speaking of Team Quebec - I've seen pictures of a horribly battered helm that one of the TQ members wore in a pro fight against a Russian. Anyone know the story of that fighter and that helmet? Did his head survive, and what gauge was the helmet? (other than "too thin"?)

Re: Bardiche in SCA combat
I think I need to shorten the haft. It's about 6' long right now and it looks like most period long poleaxes were 5' or shorter in haft. Bardiche were short - as was noted above, their primary usage was as a combination musket-rest and backup weapon. I too always thought bardiche were long polearms...

I will keep watching this space for further news (or if you are making a list of folks to email/pm when they're ready, add me, por favor) - I want/need/can't wait to buy a couple of liners. Thanks!

Museum Replicas has these on closeout, $95, size 12 and 13 only: http://www.museumreplicas.com/p-388-renaissance-black-suede-boots.aspx I own a pair but haven't worn them yet. Stylistically, they are the same as the smooth leather ones that MRL used to offer. A pair of the smooths have been my go-to...

Re: Anyone used new Purpleheart PoleHammer head?
I haven't listed them on my site yet, but I have both the heads and the full weapons in stock. Just took one of them and compared it to four different SCA bar-grill helmets - they do not penetrate bar grills, not even a little bit. (firefox spell check just recommended "bar girls" - I don't recommen...

TherionArms Monthly news update - May 23, 2012
Howdy, folks. Cold Steel longsword wasters back in stock
After an unexpected and unprecedented five month world-wide drought, the longsword wasters are finally available again, and I have a bunch in stock. While not "the perfect tool", these make nice WMA beginner/large group/demo training swords, and they can take one hell of a beating as pell swords. ht...

They're most certainly not heavy enough for SCA. They've been discontinued, so if you found one in stock somewhere, good for you!
