Hmm.. they may need a Maximum Gut version.
I bought a 3x thinking it would be looser then the 2x, it is maybe longer, but not any looser around. If anything it feels tighter around the belly area then the 2x.

Re: Newbie questions
From a fighter local to your area: The Three Mountains fighter practices are actually very newbie friendly. Many good fighters and instructors attend there. You would do well to go even if you can't get your armour to work right. The Stromgard fighter practices are also good. Again, many knights, d...

Re: The cluture of no arm hunting
Something else that may calm some hurt feelings, is if you feel you really do want to play with taking arms, tell people that. I have seen a local knight ask someone (with concealed arm harness) "How is your arm protection? My style involves a lot of arm shots, just lettin you know..". Alo...

I will gladly stop blocking, as soon as people stop swinging sticks at me.

Re: FYI new shirt from Zoombang REVIEWED
Fat guys should definitely buy based on gut size rather then chest size. I should have gone 2 sizes larger then my normal T-shirt size. Zoombang panels don't stretch at all and since they cover most of the torso there isn't a lot of stretch to the shirt, this causes it to ride up some which is annoy...

Re: The cluture of no arm hunting
Personally, if I am going to spend energy trying to hit a particular target it is going to be something that kills you. That, or one of those nice juicy thigh shots. YMMV. Can you tell me how, in your world, leg shots are any different than arm shots after your logical supposition that "if you...

Re: The cluture of no arm hunting
In general, I don't try to hit arms. I don't like pausing the fight to switch hands etc, and I think that arm shots are generally more painful then most other legal targets. I don't like getting hit there, so I try not to do it to other people. That said, I understand that it is a perfectly legal ta...

Re: Armed to the teeth (SCA).
Sir William of the Battered Helm of An Tir carries a 9' spear, a 2 handed axe and a large Seax all at the same time. I commented on it at Pennsic and he said he used to be known as the Swiss Army Squire.

Re: The Iron Chicken stance has got to go (SCA).
mental note.: DONT move to An-Tir as a lefty... got it .. Our lefties don't seem to be at any disadvantage, even without "arm hunting". Also, there's a big difference between active arm sniping and incidental arm taking. I only got out to practice in An Tir a few times while I lived in Ma...

Re: Sword hand ache
With all that padding, how big around is your sword handle?
I use one layer of tennis racket grip tape on my swords , cant imagine how clunky it would be with three layers.

Re: FYI new shirt from Zoombang REVIEWED
My second shirt is on the way. What I have found is that it works great over hard spots (shoulders, chest, ribs) and not so great over soft spots (belly). As for heat, it is better then wearing plastic armour under mail, I get tons more airflow with this shirt then I did before. Weather here is stil...

I've gotten ahold of Sir Omarad and will be verifying at Gulf Wars, but I'm of the opinion that this shirt as sold will meet the requirements for rigid kidney protection. On a different note, I currently have four of these shirts (they shipped me 2x's to try and I needed a 3x so they kindly sent th...

I was taught to pattern turn shoes by mocking up a sole (or using your converse shoes) put my foot in a plastic back and masking tape it all up. Then carefully cut it off where the seams for the shoe would be. Cut it out lay it flat and test fit it by cutting it out in felt. Instead of a plastic ba...

I used barge cement and glued in a heel stiffener to my Westland boots, in addition to putting in a good insole. They are very comfortable now. I spent some time last Pennsic looking at Westland's boots at various merchants so I knew exactly what I was getting before I ordered. I was wanting to make...

There are different kinds of Vibram soles; I don't know which ones Bohemund uses, but Westland uses the cheapies (not that I fault them for this - that is their business model). Consider buying the soft-sole shoes and taking them to a local cobbler to add the Vibrams. Ask for the #100R or #100F, no...

I'd go with the vibram. I have shoes with both and if you've ever busted your ass on wet grass and cracked your tail bone you'll wish you had some form of traction on the bottom of your shoes. Just ask Balckoak Unless your LH group forbids them I find it's worth the few extra $$. When you are weari...
