Re: Late 14th century hip protection options?
Yes, exactly. They are similar but the breastplate is solid which is the key difference. Excellent, thanks. Now here's the other issue; I know that it's debated about a solid back. If it were NOT to be a solid back what are the other options (besides no back)? My breastplate is SCA-afied, in the se...

Geez, Matt, you need to provide bigger pictures for those of us that are deaf, as I didn't even notice the difference.

Confused, Galfrid; so the picture provided by Matt isn't acceptable for late 14th?
Isn't that similar to your examples below?

Late 14th century hip protection options?
What options do I have for hip protection when it comes to churburg breast plate? I’ve seen many an example with solely mail but that’s not going to cut it (no pun intended) for ACL combat. I was thinking of adding faulds to the churburg but I’m having a hard time nailing down what time frame this w...

WTB coat-of-plates kit
I'd like to buy a coat of plates kit (even something partially assembled) and I need it on the fly. Has to be mild or stainless, not aluminum, and I need it by either late this week or, at the very latest, first thing next week. I tried Jamie at Polar Bear but he's not an option within that time fra...

I always take pictures of the receipts and the tracking info and email them to the buyers, as a sort of insurance on both parties.

Gaston, would you say that these are more protective than a standard 14-gauge stainless vambrace?
I've used splinted defenses in SCA combat but, then again, I've never had steel thrown at those defenses.

Arrgh. Must... resist... the urge to put the sword on PayPal credit! Klaus, you've answered enough of my questions throughout the years -- I'll put it on hold for you.

Silly question, but if I currently have stainless armour can it be heated to become spring steel?

More aventail questions
Is there any precedence for detail or decoration on the leather strip that the aventail is attached to? I've tried to look though effigies but I'm not really seeing anything that stands out. Also, I've seen some European reenactors that seem to sew the mail to the end of the aventail liner. Is this ...
