Matt, just an FYI; a caboose is an anachronism in your heraldry.

Re: Is it correct to wear a cap under a crown?

A conversation regarding this went around the table with a fair amount of us 14th-century-types at the last Pennsic I attended and, I believe, the general concensus was that it's worn much more frequently (in non-martial garb) in the SCA than it would have been back in period.

Ben, do you have pics of the short and long aventails attached to a bascinet?

Edit - I meant stainless, sorry, although I'm sure titanium is going to look similar enough.

Talbot, I'm interested in that pig face visor #2, pending some measurements and the first axe head.

What size helm do you think the visor would fit? I'd need it to work with a helm with a 23.5 wide, narrow bascinet.

WTB - Stainless faulds

Trying to fashion a coat-of-plates but I'm lacking any stainless to make faulds. I don't need them shaped, I just need them cut. I'll deburr and sand them down. I have't really figured out what gauge I'll need, so I'm open to suggestions. Looking for 12-14 of them and they'll need to be in creasing ...

Coat-of-plates input, please?

I want to fashion something like the below coat-of-plates. I have a few questions regarding this particular picture. I found the picture on this Croatian (I believe) site: http://www.man.poznan.pl/~ritter/Wieruszyce2006/index.html It looks to me that this particular COP doesn't have plating in he ch...

Halfway between Kirksville and Hannibal in Northeast Missouri. One of the Calontir SCA groups, Bellewode from Truman State University, has held an event here in September the last few years. Two of the links I posted are our Ravensborg site and not FB. One of them has maps that show the area. Guran...

Help with bascinet hinge issues?

So, I have a back-point bascinet from Anshelm. It has an interchangeable bargrill and a shovel nose visor, which is wonderful, but it has a centrally-mounted modern nut/bolt system to remove the visors. This I do not like. So I was thinking of picking up a bascinet klappvisor hinge from Murdock. htt...

Craig, how well does the protection work at the lateral area where the plates split at hip level?
Is there a loss of protection due to the lack of continuity/overlap of the plate or does it regardless still offer decent protection?

I fashioned my plaques from solid-brass kickplate and then used fancy washers from Revival/domed solid rivets, all backed to 8oz veg-tan leather.
A lot of work with aviation snips and a grinder but I like the way they turned out, even if they're not based on any particular historical model.
