Military Company Names

I am looking for documentation on period names of military companies and famous commanders. Our area is forming a new war Company and need a period style name. We had one that a lot of us liked, but one of the potential members wouldn't fight in a company named after a Christian Saint... so we are l...

I agree Cheval that we are not so far off, though there are some differences I think in level of interaction. -C-: This sounds suspiciously like training, and I no longer believe that that is what our Tournaments are for. If I was marshalling a fight or battle and heard someone not die from a blow called "excessive", I would tell them to take the shot and die. And if they argued that I was trying to call their blows, I'd tell them they called it, not me. There is no exception to the rules for not taking a solid shot....

I'd also go with a type, not breed. A large, big boned, heavy muscled mixed breed for carrying armor. A typey Quarter horse wouldn't really be correct as that breed is modern and has some overdone conformation traits that are super modern. I'd prefer a TB crossed with something else, and a warmblood...

I was totally stunned this past Saturday when Sir Klaus van Isbjerg and Lady Katarina van Isbjerg (Empire of Adria) presented me with an Adrian combat legal boar spear for my birthday. Real Medieval swords did not weigh 30 lbs. Most people wore linen and wool. Some of hte more wealthy people wore silk. This was true even in the middle east. Cotton was rare. Men wore underwear. The biggest change that happened in Caid was when King Gregory of York decreed that non-period stuff was supposed to be disquised in something like 1983. Over time people tryed harder and harder and even the non-period armors don't necessarily look that bad. Most visible plastic I see is in Japanese...
