Re: Spun titanium round shield?
Ti goes for $25 to $33 a pound for shorts. 7-8lbs will cost $200 for the metal alone. .050 or 18ga weighs a pound per square foot but an 18 ga round wouldnt have the rigidity to retain its shape. my 21" by 34" .040 Ti heater with reinforced edges weighed 9lbs so your shield better be the size of a l...

I work titanium and use machine tools to do 90 percent of the work.
sadly my knowlege dies with me at ths point.
my squires were taught the basics but people kept bugging them to make stuff.
when I no longer need my art to produce income maybe I will share it one day.

you can hammer work alum with the right techniques.
I can also hammer dish titanium which is much tougher.
you can draw it deep enough for knee cops.
especially if its thick enough or not 7085 t6.
will see if I can post a video tomorrow.

... too springy... I disagree you just need to spend the time to create a good pattern, thickness: at least 18ga(.050) and use the right alloys of titanium. cracking is super rare if the curves are gradual and you use heat for the tricky parts. the big 20,000 rpm die grinder really cuts.
I use it to cut titanium fingers because a shear wont cut them when they are formed.
works great with some thin kerf disks from harbor freight.
