hi... rather new to the world of creating things from metal. I made my forge at home. I'm interested in making both weapons and armor. I've just started on my first sword. Hopefully I'll be able to post the results one day. I was hoping that someone here would be able to direct me to some websites for sword smithing, or if anyone has any pointers on forging a sword that would be great. Thank you

A bladesmith should start with short knife blades first, as well as a copy of Jim Hrisoulas' The Complete Bladesmith. First the little knife blades, then medium sized ones, then heavy ones (large bowies), then on to gladius-size blades, then finally to sword blades. Sword blades are not for first-timers; they are an elaborate game all their own. For two-edged broadswords, the symmetrically hammered methods (count the hammerblows to each side of the blade) used in double-edged daggers are particularly relevant.
