I need something to planish my breastplate. It seems that my planishing ball (trailer hitch ball) is too small for effective work. Any suggestions on where I can get surfaces large enough for planishing breastplates? Or techniques for using a small ball on a large surface withing missing the damn thing all the time!

You can use an old bowling ball.

I planished my kettle helm halves on a bowling ball at Matt's place. Worked fine for me.
