where can i get rivets

where can i get rivets

does anyone know where i can get hold of some WROUGHT iron rivets. they are for an upcoming project.

rjleahy.com is the rivet king, now for iron rivits you might be hurting. There are some small regional suppliers of pure iron you can try looking on anvilfire or in the ABANA websites. Best bet for pure iron rivets is getting some pure iron and forging them yourselves. (Im making the assumption you have a forge based on your signature)

i have a forge. i have iron i just don't expect them to be round or even. My forge is mainly for arrow heads and iron work but i grind my knives.

Rivets are not terribly hard to do, if you can do a decent job peening a premade rivet you can make a nice rivet yourself. It gets proportionaly harder as the rivets get smaller and it helps to have a swage to do the heads. Might be a good project. One of my original impulses to get into blacksmithing was to be able to create my own rivets/buckles/hinges for armouring projects. I'll try and dig up some stuff on the subject and send it your way if you are interested.
