Wax Hardened Leather Hourglass Demi Guantlets

Post by Damian »

Greetings Gentles,

As a follow up to my previous post about Bazubands, I'm posting this pic of a project I finished this evening, wax hardened leather hourglass demi guantlets for SCA heavy combat. The pattern is modified from
one intended for a welded metal construction and it is fully double sticthed and backstiched prior to wax hardening.

This pic shows the demi's, shaped but prior to wax hardening in bees wax and carnuba (doesn't soften in the sun)...

Also since I got laid off my day job 2 weeks ago, I've been gearing up, making things and hanging my shingle out there again.

If anyone is interested in Wax hardened Armour pieces of most any type or style, looking for a custom knife or sword and soon I'll also be producing custom basket hilts for SCA rattan (Just shelled out for a big metal bender) Please let me know.

Also purchases from archive members will have 5% of the purchase price donated to the archive for providing this forum.

Thank you,

Damian (James Fisher)

Hail Damian,
Those are very nice Demi gauntlets, indeed. Good job on them! Sorry to hear about getting your job situation. I'm sure things will look up for you.

I am rather interested in hardened leather items, I have been for sometime. What else do you have?

Dufnial,

Thank you for your interest. I currently have the patterns and tools to create hardened vambraces, bazubands, elbow kopfs, knee kopfs, shoulder kopfs, spaulders (shoulder kopfs with additional lames), pauldrons, gorgets, demi gauntlets, hardened scales & lamellar plates.

I am in the process of designing patterns for cuisses, shovel greaves, lorica segmenta & plates for Wisby stye CoP.

If you'd like to discuss a project please e-mail me, as this is the design/constuction board not the classifieds. I don't wish to stray too far outside the guidlines set down by our host.
