rust removal

Post by whonew »

In my shop I have a LATEM Portavibe. It's used to deburr edges of small metal parts by vibrating and rolling them in a media that looks like carbide tips from saw blades or ? I made the mistake of renting some armour stuff out for halloween , my riveted shirt came back in rough shape. I left it in storage to long and it got pretty rusty sooo I put in the "vibe" for a hour and WOW it looks better than new

I just put my maille in a canvas bag with some oil and roll it around itself for a bit. The links grinding against each other strips the rust off and gives them a nice even coat of oil.

Evapo-Rust

It's a hoakie sounding name for a product, but I swear by it. I use it on my hauberks.

I agree... vibrating deburr machines are the tits.
I used to operate one 6 foot in diameter.
It used green ceramic triangles and soapy water.

A long time back on the Archive, a guy posted a pic of his coif that was polished this way.

It sparkled. :D
