I finished my prototype coat of plates. Pictures in the link above.

It is based on a Wisby #1 type 1, but I gave it a solid breast plate. On this version I made the arm holes very generous, as my last coat of plates restricted my arm movements. I think I made them too big this time. On the next one I will make it come up higher on my torso under each arm.

I have to say, this suit of armour I am making fits great. I have really taken the time to make armour well fitted to me. My first coat of plates was kind of a generic pattern based on the Wisby drawings. This CoP I made a torso model of myself and made the plates fit ME.

I can feel the weight of all the armour, but it is not unbearable. It is actually quite comfortable.

All I have to do now is get my knee armour done and make some vambraces.

Nice work!

How have you done the rivets? Are they leather washers?

The rivets are coper belt rivets from RJ Leahy and leather washers from McMaster-Carr.

Yup! :) We only let the kids watch TV on the weekends so on any given weekend you can figure out what's playing at our house! :)
