On the back and in the colored center section plate A
shows an interesting piece of hand 'armor'.

his hand protection....?

Like a CoP for your hands, more specifically the wrist...?


Kinda like a hockey glove? ( even though I hate to
make that comparison... )

if you search on Amazon you can see the back cover
of the book.... but it does not come up if you look at
individual pages....

The gloves are based on the effigy of Guido Pallavicino (d. 1301) in Parma, Italy. Photos may be seen here.

I would think that they are quilted, with splints-maybe whalebone, or even hardened leather. The metacarpal would be better out of leather, IMO.
