14th century-style splinted leather greaves.

These represent my first foray into making water-hardened leather armour. Ignore the beaten-up, rusty knees I've got them displayed with.

They are actually made from two halves, using the Master Cad pattern from right here on the Archive. After soaking in water, I clamped them to a pair of already-made steel greaves (from the same pattern, incidentally), then hit them with the heat gun. I attached the halves to one another with a strip of 18ga steel, hammered to shape over my greave stake. I will probably add two to four more splints before strapping them.

Comments? Criticism?

Nice shape, they look good.

I never thought of doing leather ones that way. They look nice. I might try that for my next set.

Or maybe I will just get off my ass and make a set of steel ones finally.

While I realize I can literally drive 4 minutes to see them in person, do you happen to have a profile shot of them so we can see the curve down towards the bottom of the shin? Also, any chance seeing them attached to a person (I'll model em, but sometimes my calves are a bit meaty...)?
