I put a 3/4 finished Burgonet on ebay-cheap!

Hi, guys. I haven't been around for a while. Not having regular access to a computer will do that...

At any rate, I put a burgonet that I started on ebay, so if any of you guys or gals wants a helm to finish up pretty quick, get it cheap.

the URL is http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=556502374

I call this helm type a "nanner" burgonet, because of the shape of the skull. There are several similar to it in the arnmory at Graz, Austria.

I plan to put a couple more helm parts on ebay tonite or tomorrow, so check my other auctions, too. I'll try to put a listing here when I get the other items listed.

I *really* want that.
It's basically SCA legal, right? I mean, if I rivited and finished it...?

And how large is large?

If you have a really fat head, it will still fit you. Image And, yeah, it was designed to be SCA legal.

Here's the links to the other two hat pieces I put up on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=556531466 (This is the zischagge top.)

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=556550354 (This is the nanner burg skull.)

They are another nanner burg skull (skull only) that is a medium size, and a very large zischagge style swirly top.

My head's not particularly large... Probably a little bigger than medium hat size. Will it still fit me?

Shame you didnt get to finish it Clang.... I like what you've done with getting a SCA burgonet. I really like your "nanner" tops. I have a helm project I may just have to have you do. Its got significant dome shapping/fluting. But thats a few months off.

Hope to see you around the archive a bit more.

Those "nanner" tops look really cool... I want one now, but Jake outbid me Image (don't have much business buying a helm anyway...)

That's really cool looking. I'd like to see it when it's finished as well!

Morgan, I'm going to have to ask you what you do for a living... and please don't be offended if I fly through your window screaming, holding a large swingable object of some sort... and possibly swinging said object at you...

I manage an IT department. I'm also single and basically close to debt free, no kids to support, stuff like that. When I moved into my new job, I got a raise that, after bonuses and so on, will be something in the $25,000 a year range. And I was making reasonably good money before I took this job. No reason to try to kill me. At least I hope not. But if we're armoured up somewhere, you're more than welcome to swing a stick at my head.

How can you possibly manage an IT department and make less than I do as a secretary? Man, you need to move to The Valley! You'd be making three times that...

PoD....I said my RAISE was $25000 a year. Not raised TO $25000 a year. IE, I'm making over $2000 a month more now than I was making before this job.

*sigh* that bonus is slightly less than I make in a year as a programmer... unfortunately, I have ultimate job security (I leave, and my company's internet venture folds), and I'm moving in a few months, so I can't quit...

Since you got outbid, Jake, I guess I don't have to answer your question now do I? Image It is a pretty large helmet-youi could probably wear it with a lot of padding, but it would bob around a bit...

Sebastian, right now they're being held by friction from the slight bit of rust under them... Image When complete, they should be held by spring clips or some other mechanical device.

Heheh...trying to decide how much a helm I have to finish is worth to me...it SEEMS like a fun project, but Frederick sure seems intent on getting it...hm..... Image

It's a good way to reverse engineer a nice helm! I can study it before finishing. It's almost as good as watching Clang build it. But never mind......I did'nt mean that.....pay no attention...... not a good point anyway... Image

Hey Morgan...

Think of that raise till you feel nice and generous, and then look at this thread.

AG: Replied privately.

Fredrich: I was just thinking it would be fun to finish and have. Image

Wanna go in together, you can reverse engineer it and I get it when you're done? Image

Lost Scott, I just found your email two days ago, anyway... Long story. I'd love to see the vid. I'll get the hilt done whenever you're ready for it.

I was away and not interested in a bidding war and someone sniped it at the last minute. No biggie, thought it'd be fun to do acid etching on it. Was that an archive person who got it?

I got the zischagge top.
Wheeeeeeeee!!!
Now I can build MYSELF a helmet instead of building them for everyone else.
