The Armour Archive

Is there any kind of database (or just gallery, etc) of maker's marks? I've got a symbol I've been thinking about adopting for the purposes of marking my inventory (I do props weapons rentals, and my stock is often used alongside those from other sources). I just want to make sure I'm not stealing anyone's trademark or duplicating their symbol.

My company is Fight Designer, so I was going to go with an FD symbol, as attached. Anyone know of any conflict?

I have never seen a modern database of armour's marks; there are a few collections of medieval makers marks, as well as databases of makers marks for other smithing categories. There is also a searchable database of modern trademarks. I can say that I've never seen an armourer use a mark such as the one shown, modern or medieval.

I would try posting to a few of the blacksmithing forums I think anvilfire.com would be a good starting point.
modern trade marks are a lot easier to deal with though there is a bit of a legal fee involved to claim it as yours.
I would look into a registered trade mark expecialy if you start doing any volume with prop rentals.

There was a topic a few years back about The Met trying to get modern armourer's marks collected.
