Very thick leather

I took a trip over to Tandy to pick up some 1/4" sole - weapons leather and all they had was one 20 lb roll almost $200.00. I'm only making one poleaxe, so that's too much of an investment for me. Anyone have sources that might sell smaller amounts of sole leather?

Check with your local shoe repair place to see if you can buy scraps.

If you just need a strip for an edge, I think I have some scrap that will suffice that you can have. If you're making an axe shape out of it, I think the bits I have are too narrow.

Small pieces: Tandy stores often have a scarps bin, but that is always hit or miss for anything specific you're looking for.
I always give out small pieces if someone at fighter practices mentions needing to buy a half-hide just to repair or make one small thing. I still have 2 half-hide sole bends from that guy in missouri that spilled dye on a pallet of his shoe sole bends. It's not vegie tanned, but works great for small pieces that don't need to be hardened. Moral of that story, ask at your practice or some other meeting where leather workers are present.

I didn't have enough to do the whole thing in leather for my poleaxe, so I used 3/4" windrose eva foam in the middle of the leather sandwich and it worked great.

I have two pieces of 1/4 inch that are surplus to my needs.
How large a piece, or pieces do you need?
