Final riveting of valsgard 6 helm from zweihammer

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to complete the valsgarde helm once you are at the point where you add the cheek plates? It seems like riveting most of the face pieces and then attaching would make it easier, but don't want to work myself into a corner where I can't get any swing on a few of the last rivets..

Here's a pic of where I'm at with the front only fitted up with screws...I made my own brasswork and blackened the stainless kit.

You might rivet the brass trim to the cheeks first.
Very nice trim, it spiffed it up real nice.

Drust, I did a totally riveted helm myself...and I noticed that once you get around to the facial area, it actually becomes easier to get some force on the rivets in question. You already did the harder part on the dome...did you use a ball stake to reach those? Try using a heavier mass hammer so you don't really need much of a "swing" on it, that worked for me. All I had for an "anvil" was the side face of a 5lb. sledge hammer.
Great job so far! You'll have to keep us posted on how it turns out, and whether you are happy with the fit.

Looking good so far. I to made my helm with a 5lb sledge hammer for an anvil, except mine was smaller since it was a child size helm. You will find that you have plenty of room to hit those rivets. You might want to peen those rivits on a block of lead so you don't mess up your brass.
