Darken etched brass

Any suggestions for darkening areas etched out of brass?

Thanks for the Idea! I had some all metal black patina from the "sculpt neauvoux" company, and it worked great. When I posted this I thought that the patina chemical I had was only for mild steel, but it did brass just fine.

It patinates to a deep gold. If you leave it in longer, it continues to darken. To bring out the high spots, shine up the raised areas with a green scrubbie, then carefully buff and polish.
