ok here are a few pics of my helm as requested.
as you can see the helm splits into 2 pieces. the bevor attaches via a hinge pin on the left side and closes with a locking pin on the right. which actually twists into the helm itself to lock everything in place.

I love it. Didn't comment in the other thread because it seemed a bit OT, but this is a righteous SCA helmet setup! Great coverage, great visibility, sexy color scheme and beautiful little details.

yeah part of the whole idea was to remove the need for a gorget. i HATE having to wear one so i wanted something i could be more comfortable in.

thnaks sam, im also not a very big fan of the standard bar grill so i tried to design something that while not exactly period still looks better and gives the coverage needed for sca.

Beautifull. I love the entire design, but the grill is really nice.

That is an amazing piece of work!! I think that is the nicest helm Jackie has ever built.
Heath, it's a great design, and the drawings are really good. Jackie's interpretation is spot on.
I don't even want to know what that baby cost

Well worth it i'm sure!

honestly the price i feel was pretty reasonable. especially for what i ended up with.
there was quite a bit that went into the helm and im sure alot of armorers would have charged much more. especially considering i kept adding things or changing the design. but we had several long conversations where we hammered out all the details jackie was pretty sure he had an idea of what i wanted. he was right. and if you look at the pictures you can see the hinge was originally in the front center with pins on both sides. jackie came up with the final design with the removable bevor an the hinge on the left. it keeps the visibility clear and unobstructed. the design works great.

Did I tell you I have a stainless helm like this in the works for a stock piece? but not with the fleur-de-lis and all the brass work, and the bar grill will be a deferent design.
Cheers

Just one, but first I have a costume hilt to make

and 6 helms on my old back log, and I should have three maybe four of them that I will finish up this week? one for sure today. So I am hoping to get back to the Kettle in about two weeks and work on getting it done along with taken in a few other commitons at that point if anyone wants a spot.
I do have one helm that I had taken and I had told the person I would get a start on it in ten weeks but I will get to start it before that point and maybe have it done way early for him.
Hope all this makes since?
The Kettle helm is a fun helm to make but I will only make a few here and there because of the time involved.
I am glad your helm is getting such good praise. Oh before I forget to ask again how do it take a blow?
Cheers
Jackie

like a tank.
amazingly solid, i have taken a few on the back point of the brim which is weird getting used to but other than that its the best helm ive ever used.

seriously, i had my roommate hit me 4-5 time each time harder than the last. after the last shot i told him to hit me with a blow that would be a legal killing blow.
he responded that the first was a good shot and the last was excessivly hard. so like i said befor it takes shots like a tank. ive had a few people tell me it was kinda heavy but its still lighter than my last helm and very comfortable, plus withought having to wear a gorget i dont feel like im choking when im breathing heavy.
