Unsolicited Review - North Star Armoury

Post by toweyb »

I just bought some gauntlets from Max Engel [mengel@futron.com]. He sells a lot of stuff on eBay, with cute pictures of cats.

I must say, his work is excellent, the prices are fair market value (by definition), and he's a nice guy as well.

The gauntlets I got were a bit too long for my hand, and he replaced them with a shorter pair quicker than you can get some armories to return a phone call.

Oh, and he takes PayPal, which eliminates a lot of waiting for checks to mail and clear.

Two steel-plated thumbs up!

If you are not a large person, it is important to stress your measurements to Max. My husband bought a custom helm (a burgeonet) and got it about 2 yrs after original delivery quote after quite a lot of nagging. Unfortunately it was so big it was virtually useless for him and he sold it off. For some reason, Max thought the measurements were incorrect and sized it up.. a lot.

His work was very nice though and it looked just like picture of the original period helm.
