Anyone ever consider using one of these for pounding rivits in tight spaces? Would it work?

I don't think that it would work very well for armoring. I use much larger riveters, with a lot more power, for aluminum rivets when making airplanes.

Just use a nice stout drift pin, Count Johnathan. If needed, dremel a cup point into its business end. Set it on the rivet end, beat on the other end with a heavy hammer.

There's a few folks here who have.

Consider this.. You don't use a hammer to push a nail. You use many strikes to beat it through the wood.
It takes TONS of pressure to force a rivet into a head. But the hammer you set with, does not weigh tons.
Lot of similarities here, really.

I have a tool Hal made that allows me to smash straight down on rivets, peening them on the inside of a helm. For the others, I just take the flick of the wrist on harder to reach ones.

I seem to recall Mad Matt mentioning using one. Whether it was that he had thought of using one or that he had, I don't know. I don't think anyone questioned him for details. Maybe he'll see this and chime in. I'm curious myself. I'm about to refurbish a sugarloaf. It'd be handy to use a nail driver.

Yeah I was just curious if it would work at all. I just use a hammer so it wasn't a question with intent to purchase one.
