Gaunt help

I'm trying to make a pattern in AutoCad, and I'm having trouble remembering what the rule for the curve is relating to the rivet is... 
I think I remember it being the top of the curve shouldn't exceed one rivets diameter above the center line of the rivets... And the reason I;m making it in AutoCad is I have some time to kill and I want to get a nice and even pattern for the lames so that I know that everything works nice and smoothly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
