Surviving Examples of Early Plate Armour 1300-1430

Post by Talbot »

Here is the cover for my new book Surviving Examples of Early Plate Armour 1300-1430, Volume I: Bascinets.

Layout is complete! Just another pass of editing.

it is a bit over 300 pages in length and catalogs 130 Bascinets and/or bascinet visors.

Volume II will be other head defenses such as great bascinets, great helms, kettle hats, early armets, etc...
Volume III will be defenses for the limbs.
Volume IV will be defenses for the body and other pieces that do not fit as neatly into the other catalogs.

Whoop! You just made my month! And I second Wade's question.

300 pages per volume?

Cant promise I'll be buying it right away, as my poor suffering bank balance may whimper at the idea of it, but I'll certainly try to get copies of each as they come out if I can.

And is there a ballpark on what each volume will cost? Would be nice to know how much I need to be setting aside for when it is finally available.

Every piece is illustrated in two different ways with line art. Where photographs are available I included them. That part is uneven.

Just for curiosity: this book contains even visors that have no matching bascinet with them ?
If so, is there the Stibber keyhole visor? ;) I want to know if I can brag to have helped research :D

I really hope this book is released soon. I just found a 14 page excerpt and I need to read all 300 pages asap.

I asked Talbot recently as I had not heard anything and worried I had missed it. Sounds like they are hoping for later this year.

I'll let Talbot get on if he has any more details or corrections to my comment.

I hope It will be out soon. It is no longer in my hands--all at the publisher's pacing.
