Hello all,
I just thought I would submit a review of South Tower Armouring Guild. This is the first time that i have dealt with them and will not be the last. I had commishened them to make an SCA helm for me(if you can tell me how to post pictures, I will). I emailed them first and Bill(the owner)replied right away. I then talked to him on the phone and we disscussed what I was looking for and some different options. He made suggestions and I made suggestions and we came up with the design of it. It's a round top with spangens and nasel and leather on the back and sides. Spangens and nasal are blackened and the bowl was heated and is almost like a coppery/straw color(very nice). It took only about 5-6 weeks to get it and I am very happy with it. One of the best things about South Tower(besides price, I paid $135 us for it) was their customer service. Emails were always answered in under 12 hours. Depending on what time of day I emailed, they were sometimes returned in minutes. The work they performed is great, their prices are fantastic, Bill is very knowledgable and helpfull and their customer service is absolutely incredible. I definetely recommend them to anyone who is currently looking for an armourer for anything from sport to museum quality. I also bought a sword from them, made by Bill and am more than satisfied with it. The look, the wieght and feel are right on. South Tower is definetely a great company to deal with and definetely worth looking into. I am glad that I did and will buy from them again.

Your pics will need to already be on the web...if they're only on your hard drive, you'll need to upload them to a web server. Most free webspace providers won't allow image referencing, so you'll need one that does if you want to show pics here, or put your pics in an html document, and just post a link.
Easyspace and homestead still allow image referencing from free accounts, last I knew.
If the above is gibbberish, i can try to be more clear...

I, too, have a helm from South Tower. Bought it around a year ago or so. Great price, good workmanship, excellent protection. They excel in customer servie, as previously mentioned.

As a side-note: most of their helms are "spun-top" based, but they have the good sense to spin them out of a heavier gague metal so that the overall protection is not sacrificed. Many people on the board dislike spun-tops for this or that reason. Still, as a starter helm, it has been great (and economical) for me. Helped get me on the field w/o looking like a smurf.

PS: the owner, Bill, is very SCA friendly and is willing to work w/ most requests.

I went with the spun too, to save money. All though a dished top was available. Money being a major factor right now though, I went with the spun top. It looks very good and yes the thickness of the steel is more than adaquate, for safty of my brain was the most important factor.
