Ok well I've got another pair of sabatons to make that are like the ones I just posted about. It's been about 6 months since I've made any armour for myself. So I think I'll make 2 pairs at once.

I wanna try my hand at adding brass trim.

Right now the obvious places for it seems to be the bottom edge and the top (end close to leg) of the toe plate. Putting brass on the other lames will probably interfere with the articulation too much.

Anyway I was thinking brass trim would look good around the leg opening too.

So the question is. How the heck do I put trim on an area that has a flared edge?

Do I flare the brass to match? Do I have to skip the flare? Do I cut the steel smaller to omit the flare and then only flare the brass piece that gets rivited on?

Put the brass on, then flare it along with the underlying metal. Work against hardwood or urethane to avoid marring the brass, and go easy to avoid wrinkling it.
