I'm trying to build Samauri armor.
I'm using Pickle barrel for the hard parts.
and I have plenty of books on how to.
what I want to know is whether or not there is anyone else out there who does the far east armor?
Authenticity tips wouldn't hurt either.
when I think of anything else to ask...

First tip is -- pickle barrels are for pickles. Worse case, they're for keeping your tools and materials in to keep the shop neat. They are not for armour.
What do you mean by "hard parts"?
What material are you using elsewhere?

I'd like to thank everyone for the helpful links.
I'd now like to explain a little better.
when I said the hard parts I meant the armored plates...
once I have a completed suite that I can use I will work on a new one that will be made out of 100% authentic materials.
but first I need a functional suit.
the one that I'm making is temporary.
I'm actually planning on ordering one from Sosh's armory soon... but I need a temporary one while that one is being made.

oh yeah...
this armor will be used for SCA battles.

A quick note on Sosh's Armory -- delivery times when I dealt with him were sketchy at best.
A 4-6 week promised delivery time turned into over a 3 1/2 month delivery time. And this was UN-assembled. UN-laced, my friends. Which ended up being a 26-hour ordeal [literally] in itself.
This was my first-ever online purchase, not to mention my first-ever suit of SCA armour. Thankfully I found the Archive after that and most of my online purchases have been relatively painless.
Well, accept for Armor Guy.

Soshs' quality was nice.
For plastic.
End result was black plastic with blue and purple lacing, rather sharp-looking.
For plastic.
It now sits on an armor stand I built for it, collecting dust -- but it's a hell of a conversation starter.

I also found this auction on ebay for some japanese armour. It looks pretty good but is a bit pricey.
