Hey !

i just started out plate a couple of week ago and its not that bad right now , btw thank to Ashfield for some tips on hardware.

i havent really made some big projet , but i am the type of person that just cant wait to do something , so that is why i decided to do a corazinna ... kinda like that one http://www.varmouries.com/tran_06.html
i looked how it was made and it dosent look very complicated , kinda like a brigandine but whit a couple of big plate insted of several smal one.

1-is it hard to make ? on a scale of 10 let's say
2-any good pattern ? i only found brigandine's pattern so far
3-ho and .... what is velvet in french ?? est-ce que c'est du velour ?
4-what type of metal and leather should i use ?

Guillaume, the only thing I can help you with is velvet=velour. And also, Ho is not the best term to use in english, it can be interpreted in a different way.

Guillaume, I too wanted to make a corrizina from scratch but I couldn't find a pattern and when I posted my request here Sir Gaston offered to start making his kit again. It will be a few weeks before he starts production and it seems like the only work you need to do is trim the 1/4 ABS plastic plates to fit your body then cover with garment of your choice, and rivet. The price should be about $100.00 here is the link to the thread which will give you pics and the particulars. Hope this will help.

btw ... why i dont find any other corazzina then valentine one ? i only found a couple of pics of this kind of armor , but not even information or historical picture. Why is that armor so rare ?

I don't pretend to be an expert but I have done some research on this topic as part of my interest in the Chalcis find. The corrazina was not used for a long time, last part of the 14th through first part of the 15th century. Consequently it is less well represented in art and actual surviving examples than some other forms that were used longer. Here is a line drawing (bottom two examples) from a book by Boccia. These drawings are closely modeled on fragmentary examples excavated at Chalcis and dated early 14th cent, possibly as late as 1420. The Breast plate halves shown are on display at the MET in NY. The one caveat would be that the back plate could be one hour glass shapped piece or just one upper half with smaller plates below. Two of these upper halves are also on display at the MET and one is shown in Ffoulkes book still covered in original fabric!. Anyway don't use the "Sport" models you see on line as guides usually these have large errors in them that work for sport but are not really authentic. One more thing, don't be misled by the famous "1400" suite also on display at the MET. The fauld on that is not put together in a manner consistent with most surviving artwork and newer scholarship. Most of the parts of the 1400 suite are from Chalcis but curiously the helm isn't even though many were found at the excavation.
