Greetings all,
I have someone lined up to cut out eight inch round shield boss blanks for me out of 14guage Stainless.
These are $9.00ea my cost. Anyone want to go in with me on a bulk order? If I can get 112 of them on order, they drop to $8.00ea.
No tax on these as I will concider these bought in Oregon.

Oops, I forgot to mention that these will be cut with a computer controlled plasma cutter.

Will they be 8 inch circles or will they be pressed into center bosses. I am pretty sure that for that price, they will be unpressed circles, but I thought I would make sure. Thanks

Eight inch circles.
BTW, What it costs me to get them is what it costs whoever wants some. All I ask is that the shipping be covered as well.

Seems kinda pricy. I'll probably be getting something like this in the future when I have some capital. I'll probably just use someone local though.

$9 each seems kind of pricy to me too. An 8 inch circle is 50.2 square inches, or about $2.25 worth of brushed stainless. At 1.1 lbs each, UPS shipping would add .30 to .75 (depending on quantity and distance). That leaves a $6.00 cutting charge per disk. Of course most places would probably figure 64 sq in, because they are going to charge you for the leftover scraps too, still less than $3 per disk. You might even be able to move the scraps as 6 inch 4 point ninja throwing stars:)
I've asked a couple of my sources for quotes--they might be able to save you some money.
Some questions:
- What kind of stainless?
I'm assuming 304 - What finish? Brushed, smooth, mirror polished?
I'm assuming whatever is cheap - How many?
1 will cost a lot more per each than 83, 83 being the most you can get out of a 4x10 sheet
What is your order size? - How firm is your 8 inch requirement?
Due to the kerf, you can get 83 disks out of a 4x10 sheet,
but if you were willing to accept 7.9 inch diameter you could get 90. That's 7 more disks for the same steel cost.

Yes, 304. I had not thought of going to 7.9" on the diameter.
The quote that I recieved is from a local vender here in town and does not include shipping.
I went out today and cut one out on my HF Shear and since I fixed the bed on it so the lower blade doesn't move around during the cut, my cut was a lot nicer and only took me a couple of minutes to file the edge.
I am starting to wonder about the worth of having them cut for me.
Minimum order is 20 for me.

Aack! I guess $9.00 isn't as bad as I thought.
I just heard back from my second supplier, who wants $10 each for them ($150.00 for 15). Plus shipping.
The first merely said "we do not burn below 1/4". Sorry!"
