The Wombat's Final Pics of MY New Helm

I have noticed that the Wombat has not yet posted his final pics of the helmet that he has completed on this forum. So...I thought that I would do it for him as I am the lucky new owner. Image

I would like to publicly state that it looks awesome Wombat, and I could not be more pleased. The work that you put into this is much more than I ever expected to receive, and I for one am extremely grateful. It goes beyond armor into art.

I have been told that it is now on it's way to Baltimore and if anyone would like to see it in person, you can do so at either "Last Chance & Trial by Fire," (the upcoming Atlantian war practice being held just north of Baltimore), or at Pennsic XXX. I will be happy there and happy to show it off, as you can imagine. Image

As this is my first posting to this forum I hope that no one is offended by the large files that I have, hopefully, attached. If so..sorry but..they are worth every pixel!

Bob

Nice! I too like the eyes.

*sniff* I remember when that face was just a flat piece of steel with holes in it...it's grown up so fast...

*applauds* Wombat that is a beautiful piece! I cannot stress how much I am in awe over what Wombat and the rest of you good people here can do with metal and leather... you are giving me something to strive for when I am finally able to gather the items to start working with steel.

I cannot wait to see it in person at Pennsic.

Is it just me or do the eyes look like they are too far apart?

Great looking helm though.

Well I got the helmet in and it is better than in the pics. The eyes are not to far apart and in fact it has better side to side vision than my current helm. Great job!

The Proud owner of this beautiful helm brought it over to my house last night.
I even got to try it on. It is truly a piece of art. Vision is great, and it is very comfortable.

Bob I was thinking another option for hiding the slats instead of a maille drape might be to put hair around them. So it would look like you had flowing long hair coming from under the cap. Wouldn't that drive the marshalls on the field nuts.

Wombat this is a true master piece, keep up the wonderful work.

Or, to keep to the style of the rest of the piece, you can ask Wombat to make repousse hair to fit on the back. That might have to wait for version 2.0 though... Image

Beautiful work, Wombat! And, proud owner, you will be entering that into the Arts & Sciences display at Pennsic, won't you?

I think more folks need to see the level to which the armorer's art can be taken - up close & personally!

Again, gorgeous! Bravo!
