simple question.
do you have any tricks or techniques for dishing or bending large pieces of metal.
for example, on a globose breastplate, to get the entire thing nicly dished and curved to fit. or on a simple body bracelet or something like rthat how do you get a nice even bend around the whole thing.
i havent tried to dish anything like a breastplate before, so wouldnt really know where to start, i'd probly do it kinda like a knee only larger.
and for bending plates i've been sticking them into a small gap between 2 large doors and doing a little bend every half inch or so.
so basicly, how do you people do it?

I haven't been able to successfully dish a one-piece breastplate. But when I cut the plate into three pieces, I was easily able to curve each plate and fit them properly one to the other.
When I make another breastplate, I will make sure it is at least 16g so there is enough metal to stretch. 18g does not work well, and is super dentable.
Try a shallow dish, and then graduated dishes, as the work gets deeper. Dish the entire surface very little at a time, kinda like tightening opposite lugnuts before a final or concentrated tightening. Use a more mushroom than round shaped dishing hammer. I used a trailer ball hitch.
