South NM, West TX armor in? is there one ever?

Just want to know if there is anyone in the Southern New Mexico or far West Texas area, or within reasonable driving range, that holds an armor-in or if someone around here should. Yeah, it's a long way from everywhere but I can't believe that I'm the only one within 500 miles that likes making armor. :? Normal people would say 100 or 200 miles is reasonable, but this is the end of the southwest for $#*%@ sake.

Oh, nothing against Albequerque (sp?) but that aint that close. El Paso is only 90 miles from here and the nearest real mall is 70. (my kids say, "in this town we don't have a mall, we have a hall.")

If an armor in were set up in this general (sNM/wTX) area would anyone be willing to show up? All it takes is a "wrong toyn at Albekoykee."

Just curious.

In the Citadel (Barony of the Citadel of the Southern Pass--El Paso),

We only 'armor in', when the need arises. Mostly repairs and shuch at this time. The 'armor shop' is the current Baron's garage. His Excellency, Sir Roger. We have the rudimentery stuff to make certain pieces of armor. A beverly shear, and a bandsaw to cut metal, dishing stump, anvil, some hammers of various types.

We have built various piece of armor, and a couple of helmets. No welding though. We are considering trying to make some arm, leg, shoulder, and neck defenses out of 1050 spring steel and try some heat hardening. We have access to a fairly large kiln.

Mostly the shop is now in wood working mode. Yet if we could get enough people interested, I'm sure his Excellency wouldn't mind having a meeting of minds, and bodies....at some point in the future.

Lord Wolf, count me in for the next one, even if it is informal. I'll need a couple weeks minimum notice for more than a day trip on a Sunday, but I'm definitely interested. I'm actually in the White Mountain Shire (Alamogordo, NM, 90 mi north and slightly east of you) so the trip isn't that bad.

I've met Baron Sir Roger, he authorized me in fact at the 12th night war practice. A very good man, your baron is. And I'll never forget Bela who gave my two teen daughters an impromptu discourse on how to get away with anything at the last clan wars. I still owe him I think...

It sounds like you guys are quite a bit further along in armoring ability than I am right now so my guess is that I could learn something from you folks. If any of you guys were at Estrella, and I know several were, you might have seen a CoP that I armored up and a reinforced surcoat that I armored as well. I didn't to the canvas work, but the end result of both was satisfactory. I still have to get in touch with one of the guys to get a performance rating on the surcoat. That, along with some simple arm articulations and some splinted arms and legs are about where I am. I can do them well enough but want to learn more.

I'm the go to guy for repairs around here. Not that I'm very accomplished (it's lucky that no one has had major articulation damage other than a blown rivet here and there) but I have enough tools to get by for now. The beverly knock-off from harbor freight should be here in April sometime. It's backordered till the 9th as it is. :)

Give my best to Sir Roger, Sir Conrad, Bela and anyone else that swings a hammer as well.

While I am "Considering" attending the Armour in at WV... I would love to have one More out this way (Definition of "This Way": Phoenix AZ) We only have about 4 or 5 Professional armourers out here....
So if there was one to happen in the good ole Valley of the Sun... You could Prob count on quite abit of Local talent showing up for teaching and brain picking. Actually this starts to sound like More and More the Start of something.. How many people ARE Seriously interested in this. Phoenix could work as a central point for NM , Tex and Ca. Whats the General Opinion?????
