i wouldn't say so, i also wouldn't ever like to see somthing lie that in an SCA list. The craftsmanship is great; there is just nothing period aobut it, and it doesn't look hardened.

What material is it (6-8 oz veg tan?)?

The work ist great, just not my cup of tea. You should try doing somthign a little more accurate or somthing that looks a little more accurate.

Also are the designs carved or stamped? they look more liek they are stamped.

Yes its legal...

the front of the torso is 2 layers of "water" hardened 10-12oz veg tan, the back, shoulders, and tassets are 13-15oz. Elbow and Knee cops are likewise 13-15oz, the lames are 12-14,and the vambrace, rarebrace, and cuisse are 13-15oz. the armour was a custom piece at the customer's request.
Leather Armor does not have to be merely black or brown, why cant it be any color, or just bright and eye catching. Nor does it have to be wax hardened to be sturdy.

period...

I will be starting on a churburgh segmented, a peascod, and a char aina breast plate soon. (just moved accross country and havent unpacked shop yet). Given what i see at fighter practice here in calafia, we could probably have a few freindly arguments about "period" armour. About the only thing not period about that suit was the torso region, the arms and legs were from period patterns. However I do have the encouragement and blessing of several Dukes on my armour.
That suit was only mildly detailed, no stamping only a double edge crease around the borders. It's made of nearly 200 individual pieces of leather. 300 hours went into it from pattern to wear. All pieces are sealed in the back/front for waterproofing, edge dressed, in all i definatly earned the $2500 i was paid to do it

Are you familiar with the work of the 15th century armourer Philipo Negroli? I've read several references to his using "embossed" leather in some of his more fantastic "parade" suits.
Since we know of many incredible suits of parade armour, in addition to the leather armour that came out of the orient; I feel that those of us who work in leather have a sort of duty to take our work beyond mere 2 dimensional, monochromatic, leather as armour, into what cuold be called Art. Negroli created a wearable form of sculpture, why can't we? So here is my challenge to any leathersmythe who reads this; push the limits, make your leather into a work of art. Lets take this to next level
