Encyclopedie Medievale

Post by waveicle »

While meeting some friends in Canada, I had the luck to view a rather large, beautiful text by Eugene-Emmanuel Viollet-Le-Duc, " Encyclopedie Medievale." Contained within this huge, thick tome were fantastic picutes and text concerning armours and all things medievale. Much to my dismay, it was printed in French. I did inquire where I could get my own copy but had no luck finding an English translation. The French version, printed in France, is out of stock for the time being. Can anyone help me find an English translation source? From what I saw, this a wonderful book.

Thanks in advance,

I don't know if it was never translated. But yes is a good resource for many things.. But about armour contain some misinformation and some tipical french "inclination" to consider french things always the better avaiable. Le Duc was an architect, not an armourer, you can't pretend to find the same knowledge you will find in a book wrote by Boccia.

Except this little things, is a great resource for a lot of things!

Here are a couple of links to search engines for books.

You will surely find some copies there.
