Bascinet Docs?

I'm thinking of doing a bascinet helmet. I'm looking for good documentation. What are some good sources?

I'm going to have to ask what it is you're looking for in terms of documentation? Patterns? (easily done) Extent helmets to copy? Styles used in particular places and times?

Specificly, I'm looking for good books that cover bascinets, different types and time periods. I would love to see front and side views. I'm looking for pictures of extent pieces.
I really like the style with the point halfway between the back and the top centre.

Hi Jeff, I'm sorry to say that the kind of info you seek is very scattered and there are no books that cover the bascinet in any great detail. Front and side photos are not common either. As anyone who wants to do some thorough research before commencing making armour tends to find out, it isn't easy.
If you could tell us the time and place you hope to reconstruct armour for, that would help. It seems you want something that's pre 1380 or so. If you are SCA then you need deeper sides.
The only source that springs to mind is;

Your right 2500 years is a good book the problem is finding a reasonably priced copy. I'm look to spend about 50 to 75 usd for this book, not the 100 plus that it is going for.
More suggestions are welcome.

Best price I found for this was $200, but it is widely held by libraries so you should be able to find a copy nearby. You might get it on ILL (ISBN 0917714067) but many libraries will not lend this type of work on ILL. Some libraries that own it include:
