I have to check with the Boss, but I think I may be able to come down from Medford for this. There is room for a tent???

Sir Gaston
Is there anything that we need to bring? hammers, stakes, etc.
I am starting a set of 14c arms using the pattern from Talbot's web site. I will have the pieces cut and burred by the proposed date. Would this be a good project to work on at the hammer in, or would you have some other things in mind? I have yet to tackle the articulation needed for the arms.

Armour-in
I don’t want to highjack this, so if it was going to happen at another location, please speak up.
If you want to have it at the shop, then June 25-27 is good for me.
July 4th weekend is good to. Post your vote and we will put it on the calendar.
Anyone who has one of our amour kits could bring it and I will be glad to help with it if wanted.
As far as tools: any tools you would like to bring is a good thing, they may be a good source for inspiration, even if they are not used.
Pitching a tent. I have a good size yard and we have a big parking lot for anyone with a trailer or motor home. If we have it on the 25-27th of June, then I have room for 2 –4 people here. The wife will be out of town from the 29th on, so if we have it after that, crash space at my house is limited only by the floor space. (Not that my wife is opposed to such things, she just has a deadline for a couple of projects before she leaves and I don’t want to crowd the house with people while she’s trying to get her work done.)
What do you folks want to do? I can show many techniques for armor construction, other than rasing. If Ugo is here, he can give you a good demo of that.
Ugo, you know the shop, any suggestions?

Sir Gaston
June 25-27 is best for me as I can not make it on the july 4th weekend.
I would prefer space inside unless some one that is traveling farther needs the space, then I would gladly pitch a tent outside. I will bring my linited supply of hammers and stakes. I am new to armouring and any thing that you could show me would be great. I think my bigest issue is visualising where the holes need to go for articulation. I think I have the basic idea of most of the rest of it, just no practical experiance.
What kits are you reffering to? I did not find any do it yourself kits on the global effects site. Is there another site that you have for armouring?

MAN! it's sexy up here!!! no time to visit the Met or the Higgins... WAAAAAA!!!
Otay, Sir Gaston's would be Unbelievably awesome for a gathering, Tons O' space, reference & fun, Use of old world techniques and modern tech, opens possibilities for what can be made, (period or inspired.)
I'm seriously excited about this, I'll see if I can coax Mr Hurt to this shin-dig.
...Dail up sucks!!!

The kit looks great. I just wish I had found it sooner. I just received my c.o.p. kit from GAA and need to put it together. Although, I am so impressed with the looks of your kit I might just have to have one. If there are any left I would like to look at them at the hammer in.
What time on the 25th are you thinking of starting? If it is earlier than the evening than I will have to take a day off work. I can't think of a better way to use a vacation day. As far as crash space, my above post should say what is needed for me.

Johannes and Okami,
I would be willing to assit in a Phoenix based armour in. I would have to agree that in the fall, like after sept. would be best for any visitors.

I was thinking we would start on Sat. If people wanted to show up Friday night we could meet at my house and watch some movie on the "GDT-BTV".
Then meet at the shop at 8 or 9 in the AM and work on projects until we wanted a break and continue on Sunday if folks where up for it.
How does that sound?

8-9 on Sat sounds great. I could easily make it down there by then, it should only take an hour ao Sat morning. What is "GDT-BTV"?

You should see my friend Lorenz's home theatre sound system...
We dubbed his subwoofer "The angry water heater"
It turns his loveseat into a massage chair.

Hey, I think your armour-in corresponds with the Texas armour-in at Krags.
We should link up on the archive Saturday night and harass each other...
Texas armour-ins' kick ass..not like a bunch of California pussies...
I am going to bring my favorite hammers:

OK OFFICIAL ANNOUNCMENT!!
June 26th and 27th we will have an "armour-in" at Global Effects Inc
The shop is located in North Hollywood CA. at 7115 Laurel Canyon Bl. (just south of Sherman Way, on the west side of the street. Big red/orangeish brick building. Alley on the north side of the building leads to big parking lot in the back.
It will start at 9:00 AM on Sat. and go until we are tiered / hungry or bored. If people want, we can go to my house (about 15 minutes away) and watch movies and BS until whenever. If people want, we will continue on Sunday from 9 am an go until the late hours of the night, or until we explode. If people are traveling some distance and want to come in on Friday, I have room for 2-4 people at my house. Or if people want to get together on Friday night to BS then I can do that too. Note: It’s a big place (20,000 sq. ft.) and there is a lot to see, I can waste a couple hours just showing folks around!
What to bring?
Your brain
Any special drink thing you want (we will have soda/ water/ beer)
Work clothes if you’re going to work.
Eye protection (I have some if you don’t)
Projects you want to work on. (We have tools to make most anything!)
Research items you want to research (1500 volume library on arms, armour, weapons, woodwork, pottery, jewelry…)
Cameras
Note books (I’m sure I’ll have something worth writing down)
Any tools you want to use or show off
Any projects you want to show off.
Any Texas armouers jokes
SO, Who’s showing up?

Sir Gaston,
I will be there for sure. Would it be possible to bring my wife and boys (age 6 and 8 ) on Friday sometime to see your place? I made the mistake of showing them you website and now am being hounded as to why they (the boys) can not come for the weekend.
I am planning on bringing a set of arms that have so far been cut out but not formed, and a helm that I could use some advice on how to attach a chinstrap. I will also be bringing some misc tools that I have aquired.

I will be attending. On saturday I have a wedding reception to go to but that should be over in the early afternoon. My plan is to bring a couple of mild steel elbow cop blanks so someone can guide me with getting that italian inner elbow fan curve technique down. I am intending to bring a video camera and a digital camera. Can I assume that there is no conflict with the business taking some pics for personal use? I would particularly like to get a video clip of raising technique (elbow cop, helmet, etc.). If time allows it would be nice to browse the library as well!

ARMOURER ERIC wrote:: I was contemplating late October, but don't know when I'll have time to plan for it, hope I can pull it off because the setting is very scenic.
Eric
Eric, perhaps November or even early December? October is often busy. Eric is right, its very scenic and a few miles up the road the town of Julian has an apple festival about that time. But motel rooms may need reservations as Oct and Nov are still tourist season.
There are several campgrounds nearby at William Heise park, Dos Picos, and around Cuyamaca lake that take on line reservations.
Sounds fun,

Cool.. so we are looking at a late september or Mid October time to Get the Phoenix Armour/Hammer - in set for. Am going to try and make it to Sir Gastons Wonderland for the 26th. We can have at least 4 people working from the forge and May build another one. My shop mate may have a home built air hammer to show off by then.
OBTW Johannes either change the padding in your helm (Its getting a little thin) or you lie like a rug... I was working out of here for 2 months before you showed ;oP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Unfortunitly I have been busy & Havent been on the forums here in a bit... The Gig this weekend sounds awesome, But I Have some people to piss off on sat & That prolly wont end till 5 or 6 pm & at that point making the 4 hour drive dont make much sence....
However the gig in phoenix would be cool , but late sept or oct are all bad for me due to the fact that there is alot of prep work I put into the age of chivarly here in vegas & its in oct. I Will normally start working towards making sure my encampment is setup correctly in late aug to early sept...
& Since everyone else questioned it I am gonna too...
Are there any armour's in Vegas???

Did someone call for Vegas?
Greetings folks!
I'm a 40 year old newbie here. Here's some of what I've done so far.
http://members.cox.net/blazefamily/scarm.html
and I make crossbows.
http://members.cox.net/blazefamily/scaccb.html
I'm in Las Vegas with an outdoor tent shop so July is right out. However I am in a campgrounds that has tent and RV space. If anyone wants an excuse to trip to Vegas I could be persuaded to arrange something here in Oct. or Nov. We have a good size local armour shop run by a local white belt who makes BEAUTIFULL stuff, but I would not presume to offer his facilities, and a few interested learners here. Sir Ardon, are you involved in the barony here? We fight 4 times a week!
I'm relatively new to this Barony so i don't know everyone.
