Can anyone point me towards a pattern for a pigface visor? The one by Cad in the files area just like to his page which doesn't seem to have a visor pattern anymore.

I used this one to make the pigface I posted pictures of recently.

I'm having a spot of trouble understanding the pattern. Is there suppose to be more of a point on the extreme left edge of the pattern piece? WHat steps does one go through to turn the flat steel into the actual visor?

I first thought of e-mailing Cad, but I figured this might be of interest to others.

Sorry if I seem dense, I only have a set of poleyns (made this weekend, blued even!) some generic SCA arms and a gorget under my belt so far.

I really need to get some electronic pics up to get feedback from people.

No, this is half of a pattern. Please not the direction pointing to the fold line.

Ok, first off this is developed from a pattern given to me by Master Roberto. It is intended to be a raising project.

Steps:
1. cut and roll the sheet into a cone.
2. weld up the nose
3. hot raise starting from the point and working backward to form the occulium
4. define the occulium and the breath on the underside of the pig
5. clean up and drill breaths
6. form the hindges for the sides

Sorry, this is a bit on the light side.

Okay, I see the half a pattern. And I assume the longer half is where the occulium and top of the visor are.

Now to learn about raising (I've only done dishing so far....)

Do I need any special forms to raise this on?

What?!?! That's why I've been having problems with the pattern! I just couldn't visualize the face looking like that. Geez, it makes sense now. It would be helpful for future reference to include some sort of note saying that this is half a pattern and it needs to be folded over to get the full face pattern. Maybe I'm just dense. It does say fold, twice, with little arrows indicating where.
Maybe there should be a pattern archive for the graphically challenged, with full patterns and lot of instructions.
