Reminder on Hammer-In

Just a couple reminders for those of you planning to attend the Hammer-In:

  • Since this is an overnight thing, we are planning on sleeping outside in tents around the fire pit. Bring a tent. Even if you have to spend $10 to get a cheapie walmart brand tent, it's better than sleeping on the grass. It doesn't get very cold at night; probably around 50 degrees.
  • Bring your tools. Not all of them, but the ones you'll use most. Check the page I linked to above for the list of major tools that we have.
  • Mark your tools with your name. You can burn your name into the tool, etch it, put masking tape and use a sharpie, it doesn't matter as long as we know whose tool is whose.
  • There will be some food there. We are having a barbeque (mmmm....26 New York Strip Steaks...) Saturday and a taco feast Sunday. We've got soda, a coffee maker, water, and beer for everyone. Bringing a small sack of food would be good if you get hungry more than once a day. There are also fast food places within about a 10 minute drive. If you're showing up just for the food, don't Image
  • This doesn't cost anything, and we aren't asking for donations. But any consumables that you think you'll use (steel, rivets, etc) you're encouraged to bring. We have these things in the shop, but anyting you can bring helps. If you don't bring anything, you won't get castrated or anything so don't sweat it.

I think that's it. I'll add to the list if I think of anything else. I'm REALLY excited about this and can't wait to meet you guys. From the Archive the following people have confirmed attendance: Randy, Rhys, Alec, Jareth, Garridan, & Frederick the Heavy. There are a number of people who are waiting until Saturday to see if they will be able to make it down, and I hope they can.

By the way, we got our forge set up last night. It's got a 4'x3' area for firebricks and coal and the blower on it works great. If we get the firebrick this week, we can probably use the large forge this weekend, but if not, we have a smaller forge to use.

I guess congratulations are in order. I've been on this addictive board so much that I've finally run out of things to put into my signature. Hoo-friggin-rah.
