Here are some pictures of my recent work.
Muttman's Corizzan. also included are pics af a vendal helm accidenrprone made for me and a Great sword with quillions by CLANG.

The corizzana is made from 16 guage (I think) all the eadges were rolles and is covered in green suede with all most 400 1/8" brass rivets. Every peice in it has been dished to achive it's shape so nothing flat in it.

Looks pretty damn cool to Me! I can`t wait to try it on, I bet I`ll look good in it! Looks like it will offer excellent protection and movement too!

Do you wear the Vendal and the brig together?

No I haven't even worn the vendal yet I'm going to try to strap and pad it in the next week.

"Brig" is for Mutman to wear with a bascinet.

I currently wear a norman conical with chain drape and lamellar.

sweet! Just a couple questions. What is the corrazina lined with? I see that the back is split into several pieces, is that for better ventalation? what time period does it fall into?

It is transition periodmid 1300's to 1400's I belive there were several threads about this style of armour earlier perhaps some one more knowledgeable could post more about it. The back is split up for adjustment and well because I didn't order enough suede and at the time we didn't have time to wait for more. the inside is painted with rustolium.

The corazzina, while made up of 14th century armour components, is not an authentic design. It was made by Bashford Dean around the turn of the century.

It is doubtful that anything like it ever existed.

Lost Scott, that is a beautiful garment/cuirass. Green is an excellent choice.

I have an 18 gauge breasplate lying around in the rust, which I am now considering chopping up for a corazzina. Thanks for the inspiration.

Quite untrue. Its highly likely something like this existed. It is correct that the Met piece is a construct, but it is hardly the equivilant of a horned viking helm. The "flaud" of the corrazina is the biggest sticking point with most detractors as there aren't any examples of this approach to flauds.

Irregardless LS its a nice piece. Congrats.

I agree with you that the fauld is the only part that really doesn't fit. That being said, wouldn't you rather have this:

I know this suit isn't glaringly unperiod, but I find it discouraging that it's usually presented as a "typical" 14th century suit.

BTW Thadeus, Dennis (Lou) is going to be moving to Rindge soon. I think He will be checking out your practice soon thereafter. Figures things start hopping after I move halfway across the state.
