Decorative Brass Rivets or Threaded 'Rivets'

Post by Deykin ap Gwion »

I have a gorget I purchased that uses non-rivets to hold on the strapping i.e. hollow threaded bodies, with a bolt-like back that screws in. I don't know what they are called. For some reason 'chicago' rings a bell, but...

This got me to thinking it mihgt be nice to find out what those are actually called, as I like them, and may want to use them on some new pieces I am planning.

Also, while I'm at it, does anyone have a source of rivets with decorative heads? Large heads would be fine, brass or copper preferred for aesthetic reasons.

Thanks,
Deykin

I believe the ones that you have are also used for temp. book binding.

Yep, something very much like what they are calling "Decorative Screw Posts"

Thanks!

I would definatly use some form of lock tight when using chicago screws. They will fall out eventually, especially if you do alot of fighting in your stuff. (as opposed to just walking around looking good)
