Some recent work

Thought you all might want to see what's been up in the shop lately. Here is a harness completed in June. It was mild steel, per the client, and based largely on the #A21 harness in the Wallace Collection, but the fluting was simplified. The model on which the armour was photographed is several inches taller than the client it was made for, so please forgive me if the proportions are a little wonky.

Here's are a couple of in process photos of a cuirass for JCESARELLI's harness, a 1510 Italian, primarily for jousting. This is all 1050 spring steel, as is most of the rest of the upper half of the harness. This is so the parts that may be struck by lances are mondo-strong. You've seen pictures of the cuisses, greaves and vambraces on another thread a while back.
I'm finishing up a frog mouth visored great bascinet helmet too, and will post some pictures when it's done in a few days.

My wife and I stayed with Jeff and Gwen for a few days last month during our North American trip and it was an absolute pleasure, mainly because they are such nice people but also because I got to have a sticky, (Australian slang for a look, you perverts

), in his work shop. An armour lovers wet dream.
As soon as I save the cash I am buying a complete 14th century rig in spring steel.

Fantastic harness. I'd like to see a knee flexing. They look very historically accurate and I've often wondered what they would look like when the leg is bent.
Beautiful work.

Thanx all for your compliments.
I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the contributions on the German Gothic armour, of my assistant at the time Greg Wosnak(Krieger) and Per Lillelund Jensen from Denmark, a very talented armourer in his own right. Thank you both for your efforts on the project, and good luck to Greg with his new position with GlobalFX.

The "Armour God" is currently at an event. He left for the event with the horses yesterday morning and called me late in the day to tell me that something was wrong with Bella. Looked like a bad colic, he wound up having to find a vet at 8PM last night and take her to an emergency clinic. Her heart rate was 130 and she was in real distress. Didn't present as a real colic, as she still has gut noises and was passing material. Vet thinks she may have been poisoned. Last I heard she was being observed and on an IV drip. I'm currently waiting to hear if Jeff will be coming home from the event with 1 horse or 2.... Any of you horse owners out there will know what we're going through right now.

Positive thoughts are appreciated.

I'm happy to report that Bella came through troubles and her hospital visit fine. In fact when I visited her Saturday morning, she looked like her sweet ole self, and Gwen and I were much relieved. Thanks for your thoughts.
Still don't know what caused it exactly, perhaps something in the feed that shouldn't have been, but just not sure. I'll follow up with the vet, but not sure we'll have any more answers. The important thing is that Bella's back to normal!

Maybe Bella did it to get out of the joust
Some times animals have sense about them.
Glad your horse is better.
