stainless steel welded mail

I admit freely that I am a horrible, inauthentic person. Does any one know where I can buy welded stainless steel mail fabric to hang from my coat of plates? I hardly have time for this at all, so low maintainance is what I want.

There is a company here in Germany that does this sort of thing, a whole shirt runs around 500$ depending on size. The rings are stainless and every one of them is welded shut. Let me know what you need, and I will get you prices and shipping options

Another person and I bought some of these shirts awhile ago. We've had no problem at all with the .8mm wire ones. The only problem besides shipping is arms. They tend to run a bit larger than requested. Not a huge problem, but worth mentioning.

I have been fighting SCA in one of these for just under a year now and have had no problems. I agree the arms are a bit wider than I had imagined them but not awful on the whole. Their web site seems to be down, does anyone know of a new one?

Hey Sarnac,
I'll be at Valday with mine. Everyone I've shown it to has been amazed. Fought in it at the Pennsic Pas and got rocked a few time without any problems. It was great.
The shipping will kill you, but its been worth it for me.

Below is the link the German site (in English) that sells the welded stainless maille.
I'll try and post a picture of two of their shirt tonight when I get a chance to mess around with Yahoo.com. The price list they sent me 2 months ago is the same one they sent out last year.

This will not obligate you any way, but I'm putting in another order for the shirts. I'd just like to get a show of hands on who wants them and can send money. The last time they gave a 10% discount for ordering more than 5 shirts. Right now, I've got two people who are 100% positive they are going to buy a shirt. You can either post here or shoot me an email. Again when I get a chance I'm going to up load the price chart and the a factory pictures. I'll also put up a couple of the shirt I got.
Bear in mind that with the fluctuation in the US Dollar vs the Euro prices will vary until the shop locks us in on price. No one is making a profit here except the guys in Germany who produce these. So if the shirt costs $475 right now, it may cost $500 or even $450 next month.

Thanks, I don't think it will be a problem. I can only hope I get it together before the war.

Is the maille hanging the right way? It almost looks like it's turned 90 degrees from how it should be...
Any chance you could post another photo, with a point of reference (like the center seam on the dummy)?

Yea, I'll post a picture of mine after lunch. The large picture with dummy is what they sent me. The maille does indeed hang correctly. You just can't see it very well on the dummy. The sleeves hang lengthwise. Thus if you arm is straight out, it's going to be parallel to the shirt.

http://www.geocities.com/fitzlaughlyn/DSC00440.JPGOk. Here's a new picture of my maille. You can see the maille hangs down your body. Please note that the picture of my maille is the small shinny rings, the factory picuture is of the large rings.

Your Excellency,
I get "page not found" when I click on your links.

Ahh, thanks very much, that's a great deal clearer!
What are the wire and rings diameters the rings in your shirt?
I'll be interested after the holidays.
-Donasian.

The rings I have are the 7mm OD with .8mm wire. The larger sized (and more expensive) are 10mm (I think it's OD, though I've not seen it) with 1.2mm wire.
Sorry for some reason the links need to have a "?" on the end of them. I'll try and fix it.

The "?" fixed it. About how much did you pay for shipping per pound? How much does the shirt in the picture on the dummy weigh? Finally, I get the sense that you're a big guy, is that true? I'm just trying to figure out how much my "pieces of mail fabric" are going to cost to ship.
I *wish* I could order a whole shirt. Maybe next year.

The size on the larger rings is 10mm OD. I do not have access to my server or images right now but can put them up in the morning.
Arland any idea what their roman shirt looks like? Curious to know if anyone ordered one.

Postal costs the same as it would from New York. So not much really. The only way I ship things is insured. Anyway I'm 6'2" and 215.
Sorry, but I've never seen there Roman shirts.

Have a look at the price sheet and figure out why type of you shirt you want, what type of finish, what size of rings and what not.
Email that to my online account of
fitzlaughlyn@yahoo.comI'll put together the suggested order and see what I can get for a large order discount and what not. So that I'm not misleading people in any way shape or form, I'll go over how I get this stuff.
Step one: Receive orders and establish contact with friends in Germany.
Step two: Receive payment and ship out to Germany via registered mail.
a. Payment may be made by check, money order, or Paypal. Payment must be in full prior to the purchase of the shirt, to include estimated monetary exchange rate and a shipping. All extra money will be returned to the buyer with shirt by form of check or Paypal.
Step three: Shirt will be shipped out to buyer insured (US Postal or UPS).
a. Shirt may also be delivered by person or any other arranged means.
I understand this asking for some faith up front on everyone's part. But I'm not making any profit on this. I'm just acting as the middle man. The best way I can put it is, if you don't like how I'm doing it, make a suggestion that doesn't involve my money and I'll see what I can do. Alternately you could contact someone in Germany to act as the middleman for you.
