Particle Board Source.

Post by mercenary »

Where do y'all get particle board? I'm looking for something rough on both sides, not finished on either side. I've gotten it before, but I can't fine it again.

BTW, I'm making a shield out of it. It bends great, and stays that way when it's dry too.

Try Menards if you have any. That's where I get my plywood. Check hardware and lumber stores in general.
It's up to you now.

Buy lots of it, I would expect you to loose pieces at every fighter practice. It is no where near as durable or strong as plywood.
My 10yo daughter says I'm pretty!

I was gonna say, be prepared to lose a shield every other fighter practice. I used Particle board for a while and it used to be a game to see who could break the shield........

Plywood. or barring that, Aluminum

Okay, how do you bend plywood so it stays in a curved shape?

I bend two pieces half as thick as the finished sheet and glue them together while curved. If you have some ratchet tie-down straps for pressure it is really easy to create a jig to do this... or you could just use a 55gal drum or a large tree.

This brings to mind a shield press I've been meaning to make out of old pallets.....

Basically you take the two pallets, knock the slats off one side of each and then cut the thick pieces into the curves you want, then on the other one you cut the curve out so that the other pallet fits in it....... then using large bolts or bricks you can press the plywood into it after gluing them together and it will curve them and keep the shape.......
